Looking Down on the Rainbow

Have you ever look down on a rainbow so that sunlight, beaming in from behind, shines through raindrops falling below you, you can see the whole circle rainbow.   I have had the pleasure of seeing this wonderfully awesome sight.  We have adopted the Circle Rainbow as the symbol for this site and what we stand for.

As we are all unique individuals so to is each rainbow, not only unto itself but also to the each observer.  A nice feature about rainbows is they are exclusively the beholder's.  Because only one ray of light enters the eye from each raindrop, a different rainbow is seen from every angle. Thus, the little girl on her parent's shoulders doesn't see the exact rainbow her parent sees.  And attempts to bask in the earth-touching color of a rainbow will end in frustration, because walking toward a rainbow will eventually mess up the angle at which a rainbow's light reaches the eye, causing the rainbow to disappear.

This we also believe to be true of the multiple facets of gender.  While you may be able to name the colors in a rainbow red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet if you truly look you can see a blending of these colors one into another which leaves the rainbow with a color schema infinitium.  Take away any of the colors within the rainbow and the remainder will not survive.  So also is the spectrum of gender.

Within these pages we strive to provide educational and informational information designed to help you understand the complexity of the gender continuum for it is far more complex than the dimorphic dogma that many would have you assume.  Our focus here is on those of us that are intersexed and the transsexed.  The information here has been provided from many individuals and we hope is presented in a easy to find and understand fashion.  Please feel free to send us additions or corrections to the suggestions department as necesary.

You will also find our perspectives on religion and its impacts on oppression many in the gender community and elsewhere suffer through needlessly, caused by the lack of education and understanding in matters regarding gender.  (see AKS A Place Called Grace) Some of the religious cannot see the rainbow of the humanity or the gender continuum, which often leaves some of us questioning our faith and ourselves.

The rainbow has been a symbol of wonder, power and religion from the time it first appeared to human eyes.  Like the Rainbow Medicine Wheel which is a place of spiritual thought, or guidance from the Creator.  We strive for understanding that we are each uniquely created and that we should never be held to unrealistic societal expectations that have been formulated without our input or consent.  We seek a world where the ethnicity, genders, abilities, class, sizes, relationships and the list continues, blend to where one sees only the rainbow containing the extraordinarily rich and vibrant diversity in humanity, embracing, not collapsing the differences but emphasizing our connections in this fraternal association we customarily call humanity.

We may never see our optimistic expectations become reality however it should not prevent us from attempting to strive for this worthy goal.   It is our hope that you have joined us in this quest.
